What I'm Currently Doing

Information   I am excited to announce that on May 4th, 2024, I graduated from Furman University with a B.S. Computer Science, B.A. Japanese Studies, and Cum Laude Honors. It was a tough but rewarding last semester at Furman. Last semester, I took Data Mining, Game Design, and two Senior Thesis Projects for both of my majors. For Computer Science, I completed the thesis Context-Driven English to Japanese Translation which implemented a Statistical Machine Translator that could process grammatically correct English sentences and translate them into an equivalent Japanese phrase. The project was coded in Java and uses SQL, Linguistic Corpora, and a Visitor design pattern to facilitate translation algorithms. For Japanese, I completed the thesis Discrepancies among Translation: A Comparison Between English and Japanese Linguistic Properties which investigated the linguistic properties of English and Japanese and their differences to explain the complexity of such a property and a procedure for translation. Completing these projects was rewarding in that I was able to expand my knowledge on a topic I find interesting, but finally be able to apply my skills from Computer Science and Japanese Studies.
Now that I have graduated, I am on an active job hunt for roles in the Software and IT industries. I plan on moving to Boston, MA to be closer to my friends and family, but to also enjoy the ambience of one of my favorite cities in the United States. I am looking forward to the new memories to be made there, and the new experiences and connections waiting for me.
Otherwise, I am spending my downtime packing, visiting friends, and playing Cities: Skylines. In Cities, I am currently working on my megacity Diamanti which is currently at 150,000 citizens (large for the game s computer).

Endeavors Important to Me

Socials

Car Free America

Information Automobiles are the default mode of transportation for most Americans. Since its invention, the American government have prioritized automobiles through subsidies and effectively rendered public transportation across the country obsolete. Automobiles are an economic liability for low-income workers and contribute to environmental issues. This website advocates for the initiative to reclaim public transport and sever the car-dependency in America.

Segregation by Design

Information Since the founding of the United States segregation between Whites and People of Color have been a part of American planning. While history focuses on the explicit forms of segregation throughout the Jim Crow era, other cities beyond the Southern U.S. implemented segregation planning such as “Redlining” and “Urban Renewal” which disproportionally affected People of Color and prohibit them from creating community wealth. This website shows the history and effects of segregation by design.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Information Diabetes is a prevalent issue in the United States, and 11.6% of the population are affected by the disease. Type 1 is a type of Diabetes classified by the inability to produce insulin and regulate blood sugar levels. Type 1 is genetic, and many patients get diagnosed at a young age. The JDRF is an organization that funds research into Type 1 Diabetes so that patients like me can live a more comfortable and regulated lifestyle.

National Center for Transgender Equality

Information The LGBTQIA+ is an acronym for a group of people advocating for the protection of a person's sexual orientation and gender identity. The 'T' in the acronym represents Transgender. Transgender people in America continue to be the most targeted and marginalized group. In fact, Black Trans-Women are the most likely demographic to be victim of a hate crime. This vibrant community known for the insurmountable influence on the LGBTQIA+ cause continues to be undermined, and their livelihoods must be protected.
